COLORADO SPRINGS A Changing Landscape
Colorado Springs, A Changing Landscape is history and photography combined as this volume explores the city of Colorado Springs through Glenn Wesley Murray’s photographs made during the 1930s to 1960s, contrasting with contemporary images made by local Colorado Springs photography students. Their challenge, to document the same locations that Murray photographed, sometimes more than 80 years later, and apply their creative eye to the changes, the progress, and sometimes, the unfortunate loss of our city’s history. This book aims to promote a legacy of historic preservation, and offer a greater understanding of the changes we find, but often do not stop to notice, in our daily commutes and rush of day-to-day living.

Book Reviews
What a thrill it is to see this comparison, somewhat of a dialogue between photographers reaching across the decades showing us just not where we are today, but from where we’ve come. Delightful!
—Richard “Dick” Noyes, formerly of, with wife Judy, Chinook Bookshop
Colorado Springs has been in a state of change since it was founded in 1871. Now, the dramatic new iconography you hold in your hands captures—like lightning in a bottle—some of the greatest of those transformations through the eyes of artists with the ability to capture real-time in a photograph . . . for all time.
—John Dwaine McKenna, Award-Winning Author: Colorado Noir
With this book, we have witness to the startling changes that occurred in Colorado Springs as it transformed from a sleepy frontier town to a growing metropolis. A Changing Landscape takes you on a journey—The Creative Eight, using Murray’s images as inspiration, interpret and recreate his iconic images, resulting in a fascinating comparison of then and now.
