Colorado historian of eleven books on Colorado history, Linda Wommack, will read from and discuss her latest book, CRIPPLE CREEK BOB WOMACK and The Greatest Gold Camp on Earth, from 12:30 to 3 pm Saturday, October 19 at Hooked on Books, 12 E. Bijou, downtown.

On October 20, 1890, Bob Womack struck gold at Poverty Gulch, staked his El Paso claim and eventually ignited the greatest gold rush in Colorado’s history. During Womack’s lifetime over 250 million dollars was mined from the Cripple Creek District. Linda Wommack’s history brings to light the significant role Bob played in bringing the right “players” to Cripple Creek and adds a fresh new story to the Cripple Creek legend.
